Touch Of Fire ~ World Building

World Building

Touch of Fire takes place primarily in what was once Texas and Arizona .

***

Arizona has been renamed Arrow's Onus. And Texas no longer has a name. A region so vast, its name has been lost to the ages.

***

Technology has disappeared from Earth. This is an agrarian society. At the time of this story, there has been an uneasy peace between plainfolk and fae for ten turns.

***

Many plainfolk and all fae follow the teachings of The Trinity. The Elementals have made themselves the guardians of the faith.

***

At one point, Grey mentions the Cali tribe. This is a dwindling group of people we (ancestors) know as Californians. The Calise are a primitive and superstitious people, descendents of those who survived the cataclysmic earthquake of 2025.

***

Much of the ancient world has either been buried or lost. The only things that have survived twelve centuries are made of rock, hardened steel and some plastics.

***

Our descendents understand rock and metal, but things like plastic amaze them. They have not been able to figure out how to recreate this strange substance. Plastic is highly prized, regardless of its form. They sometimes melt the plastic and create new items with it.

***

What can you still find 1200 years from now?

• Mount Rushmore is still recognizable.

• The lower third of the Statue of Liberty is eroding but big hunks of it still remain.

• Many of the concrete and steel columns that made up our highways and bridges are standing, though our descendents have no idea why we built so many tall structures. They are under the impression the whole world must have been covered with water at one time to warrant so many elevated spans.
